A Note From Dr. Saker

I am an Internal Medicine physician with experience caring for patients across hospitals and healthcare systems throughout the United States.

After completing my Internal Medicine training from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai — Elmhurst Hospital, I spent more than six years practicing as a traveling physician, working in diverse healthcare environments and caring for patients with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions.

No matter where I practiced, I noticed the same pattern: many people felt overwhelmed trying to manage their health. They were seeing multiple specialists, taking several medications, reviewing lab results they did not fully understand, and navigating an endless stream of health information without clear guidance.

But what stood out most was what I saw inside the hospital.

Many of the patients I cared for were living with chronic conditions such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, and other health problems that had developed over years. While not every illness can be prevented, many patients were reaching a crisis point long before anyone had the time to step back, connect the dots, and help them make meaningful changes.

Those experiences changed how I thought about medicine.

I realized that some of the most important opportunities to improve health happen long before a hospitalization, emergency room visit, or new diagnosis. They happen through education, prevention, and consistent support.

This became personal through my own family.

My father lives with several chronic medical conditions and, like many patients, relied on multiple physicians for his care. Despite receiving care from dedicated healthcare professionals, I often felt something was missing. Conversations frequently focused on medications and appointments, but rarely on helping him understand how his conditions were connected, what changes could make the biggest difference, or how to build practical habits that could improve his long-term health.

It reinforced something I had already observed throughout my medical career:

Patients are often given information, but not always clarity.

Then it became personal again — through my own health.

For years, despite exercising regularly and considering myself health-conscious, my LDL cholesterol remained elevated. With a family history of cardiovascular disease, I assumed medication might be inevitable.

Instead of accepting that assumption, I took a deeper look at my nutrition, training, recovery, and lifestyle habits. By making targeted changes, I was able to significantly improve my cholesterol profile and reduce my cardiovascular risk markers.

That experience reminded me that many people have more influence over their health than they realize — when they are given the right information, a personalized plan, and ongoing support.

Saker Medical was built around that belief. I wanted to create a practice where patients have the time, access, and guidance they need to better understand their health, identify risks early, and make informed decisions with confidence.

Because the best medicine is not simply treating disease after it develops. It is helping people build healthier, stronger lives before disease has the opportunity to take hold.
